| There lived an old man and his wife. They have four daughters. The man built a weir. He sent his daughter to check on the weir. She checked on it, there was no fish. She looks towards the woods: a pole hut is standing (there). She dragged (the man's) daughter up from the cellar room. She placed her in the middle of the floor. So, she says, carry! He started to carry, he started to get near, dogs jumped at him. He threw down his knapsack, he ran back. He ran home. Let's eat! he says. She (his daughter) gives him nothing to eat. He said for the second time: Have you perished or what? He jumped up, when he shoved her, she fell over. The man sat down to cry. The girls say to their father: Let's go, she says, father, we'll kill him. They went, they came to the man. (He) says: Old man, look out! When the man looks out, he was struck dead with a hammer. |
