Bear-awakening song
Bear-awakening song.
Wake up, bear, wake up, bear!
The old Game-Man with his three sons -
[by the [n.n.] of the magical iron they forged]
By what kind of forged [n.n.] could you be taken so powerfully?
Wake up, wake up!
When you lived in the seven middles of the rimed forest,
[an idol-eye coiling the night]
Your one eye, an idol-eye coiling the night
[to a deep-dream cornered sleeping place]
is pulled downwards to a deep-dream cornered sleeping place.
Your other eye
[hundred stars standing in the sky]
counts all the hundred stars standing in the sky.
When you lived in the seven middles of the rimed forest,
before, at dawn
[thorn-bushed steep banks]
you plodded for a long while to the many thorn-bushed steep banks with the seven plodding steps of a bear,
[raspberry-bushed steep banks]
[with the plodding steps of game]
you plodded for a long while to the many raspberry-bushed steep banks with the plodding steps of game.
[in your deep-dreamed cornered place]
In your deep-dreamed cornered place how could you fall asleep so deeply?
[pack of young men]
[see, before] [at dawn]
See, the pack of young men were up before that, at dawn.
The rubbish from the end of the upper village
[with an expensive atlas-silk clothing tail]
was dragged with an expensive atlas-silk clothing tail to the end of the lower village,
the rubbish of the end of the lower village
[with an expensive silk-cloth clothing tail]
was dragged to the end of the upper village with an expensive silk-cloth clothing tail.
Wonderful hand-waving games
[before at dawn]
were already played long before at dawn.
[male squirrels swimming in water]
They had long been drenched like male squirrels swimming in water,
[male squirrels swimming in water]
They had long been drenched like male squirrels swimming in water.
Wake up, bear, wake up, bear!
Look up, bear!
